Kia ora everyone, We are entering a very important time of our year as Catholics

We began our Easter Triduum as a whole school liturgy on Wednesday, where our Junior Special Character Leaders acted out the Stations of the Cross, as our student leadership team read out each station

The Triduum is the last three days leading up to Easter and is known as the most important days in the Catholic Church, it is one liturgy that takes place over the three days.

On Holy Thursday, also known as Maundy Thursday we commemorate Jesus’s washing of the feet and the last supper with his apostles. On Good Friday at 3pm all over the world we remember how Jesus died for us. The son of God died, suffered, and sacrificed himself for our sins. Holy Saturday is the Eve of Easter, where we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus at a night time vigil with a bonfire and candles.

Easter commemorates the Resurrection of Jesus, celebrating the defeat of death, and the hope of salvation. Easter is a time when we reflect on how God's love conquered death. We were all created good, and in God's image, but we were given free will. This meant they had the option to turn away from God, and chose to do things against his will. This meant that people disconnected with God, and many were cut off from heaven due to their choices. After centuries of communication with God through the prophets, we were able to reconnect with heaven through Jesus.
