TheatreFest

The Otago regional round of TheatreFest took place last weekend.

This was the first time that Trinity had taken part in this drama festival and a group of ten senior students performed a 30-minute New Zealand play called “The Careers Room” written by Philippa Werry.

The only requirements for entering TheatreFest are that there must be at least two performers and the performance must be no longer than 50 minutes, so this leaves plenty of scope for a huge range of plays, performers (students and community groups), and productions. Part of the TheatreFest process is that each group receives feedback from the adjudicator directly after they’ve performed which is a really useful learning experience for all involved.

Our students did a wonderful job bringing their play to life and provided the audience with an entertaining piece of theatre.

Well done to the Trinity group on achieving an award for Excellence in Ensemble Playing.

Special thanks to Erica Ward who directed the play, as well as Rebecca Meikle (costumes and props), Christine Wilson (set and stage management), and Daniel Cairns (lighting and sound).
