NCEA Level 2 Achievement Standards from both History and Psychology.

Scholarship optional

Entry Requirement

Performance in L1 History or in the core subjects at NCEA Level 1: English, Science, Mathematics, will be considered as indicators.

$100 - Two day trip to Central Otago.

Course Outline

A range of History topics are studied as the following basic skills are learned and put into practice:

Basic Skills:

  • Psychological Research
  • Information Processing
  • Presentation of Information
  • Critical thinking

Topics:

  • Students are able to choose their own history topics for standards 91230. Students have chosen a range of topics in the past from The Great Depression to Gallipoli, 1975 Land March, Stolen Generation, Civil Rights, specific battles within WW1 and WW2. 

  • Black Civil Rights

  • Psychological Approaches

  • Behaviours

  • Psychological Research

 

Assessment

Internals

 

AS 91230 - Examine a historical event or place that is of significance to New Zealanders    5 credits

AS 91844 - Examine different psychological approaches used to explain a behaviour.  6 credits 


AS 91846 - Conduct psychological research with guidance.  4 Credits 

Externals

AS 91233 - Examine causes and consequences of a significant historical event     5 credits

 

Where Does It Lead

L3 History

University study across a range of Social Science subjects.
Careers in any field which requires report writing, unbiased opinion, analytical and logical thought, knowledge of how the human brain works.
Careers include: law, journalism, teaching, tourism, public relations, psychology.
