Kavanagh College sent six athletes to the South Island Secondary school athletics champs in Timaru over the weekend

Some fantastic results for our team at the South Island Secondary School athletics meet in Timaru over the weekend.

Hena Fonohema led the way for the College in placing 2nd in the shot put, 2nd in the Discus and 2nd in the Javelin. What a great weekend for her.

Will Campbell ran well for 6th place in the Senior boys 100m and 200m.

Peter Sewell was placed 5th in the 400m and also ran in the Under 15 boys 100m but missed qualifying for the final.

David Makasini was 7th in the 800m and 6th in the 400m.

The Senior Boys 4x100m relay team made up of Peter Sewell, Connell Webb, Breyton Smith and Will Campbell qualified 3rd fastest for the final but unfortunately dropped the baton in the 2nd transition which curtailed any chance of a top three placing.

My thanks to Ali Sewell for helping out as team manager he did a wonderful job.
